Frequently Asked Questions

Does this work with auto-generated captions?

Yes! This tool extracts both manually uploaded subtitles and YouTube's auto-generated captions. Auto-generated captions are available on most English-language videos.

Can I extract transcripts in other languages?

The tool extracts whatever captions are available on the video. If the uploader added multi-language subtitles, you can access those. The tool prefers English captions by default.

Why is no transcript available for some videos?

Some videos have captions disabled by the uploader, or the video may be too short/new for auto-generated captions to be available.

Are timestamps included in the transcript?

Yes, each line shows the timestamp. You can copy plain text (without timestamps) or download as SRT which includes full timing information.

Is there a limit on video length?

No. This tool works with videos of any length. However, very long videos (5+ hours) may take a few seconds longer to process.
